Widescreen Auto Android est assez doux !

Widescreen Android Auto is pretty sweet!

  1. Alright, let me try this here. My Yaris radio pooped itself so I want to put an android auto one in. Recommendations? I’m frugal so looking for affordable but not cheap crap.

  2. Doesn’t work with Audi head units (2018 Q5, same as current A4/A5) and most likely a Q7 will be the same, just tried it. It’s not widescreen though and 1080p makes it blurry, 720p is fine). Maybe it works with their new touchscreen interfaces (A6, A8, Q8, and the new Q3).

It’s a shame, I hope they’ll allow this layout, the icon bar is such is a waste of space in landscape mode as it is.

Another option would be to auto-hide the icon bar when it’s not in use on non touchscreen interfaces such as mine, as 99.9% of the time it’s just wasted screen real estate.

  3. Sort of related, but has any clever person found a way to modify the wallpaper on Android Auto yet? Thought about decompiling, editing, and recompiling, but I doubt it would work without a Google signature.

  4. I do not see anything about forcing 1080p – in running the latest version of the app and only see « Allow 1080p video output » in the developer settings… Any of you guys that have this working – are you using/seeing a different toggle in the AA developer settings?

  5. Really late here but is android auto better than it was about 6 months ago?? I havent used android auto in months due to it crashing and just being generally finicky. Could also be my system as I got an email about needing to update at the dealership.

  6. Doesn’t work for my 2018 Alfa Romeo Giulia. I don’t have the pillar-box issue but the screen only shows 4:3 on the left of AA and on the right there is the AA sign, wasting a lot of on screen space.

  7. Hopefully they’ve been smart enough to swap the controls to the other side in RHD cars…

(Who am I kidding, Google don’t know that anyone outside of America exists 😆)
