  1. Most people seem to think phones are the only use. Let’s not forget about devices where Micro SDs are the only form of expansion such as…

    Microsoft Surface 2-in-1’s,
    (Any PC with non-removable storage),
iPod Classics (with the SSD conversion),
    Digital cameras,
    Video Cameras,
    Car Dash Cameras,
    Raspberry Pi projects,
Laptops with only one drive bay

I’m sure even I have forgotten a ton of devices where high storage cards would be priceless.

  2. Just to simplify it here

    Who’s the 1TB SD Card’s useful for:

    -Professional photographers and videographers

    -Vloggers and Youtubers

    -Probably social media influencers

-People who do a lot of productivity work on their phones

-People who store a lot of content on their phones

-People who takes a lot of photos or videos on their phones

    -Nintendo Switch owners

Probably there’s more but these are the only ones I can think of. But I guess for most of us here, we don’t exactly need that much storage space. Which is fine but the option’s always there if you need it.

  3. They really need to work harder to bring the SD express standard as storage size are increasing but the interface can’t cope with speed & IO requirements of modern devices.

By « They » I mean all responsible parties: SoC makers, smartphone makers, microSD makers.

  4. I don’t « need » a tb, in that I would not pay a premium for one… But when the 512gb cards came out, the 256s dropped reasonably in price. My music collection is about 80gb. Throw some movies and TV shows on, a few audio books, and the pictures I take with the phone… And I’m at 150 pretty quick. Assume I’ll fill up enough that buying a 512 will make sense with my next phone.

  5. Every SanDisk msd card I’ve ever had has failed, and failed quickly. I gave them numerous tries (5 or more). Sure they offer to replace the card but you have to give them the old one. Which still has all the data on it. Fuck that. Never again.

  6. Seriously amazing. To think that, not that long ago, 8MB computers were enormous. Now we’re getting to the point where the average consumer has _too much_ space, as opposed to running out like we used to but a decade ago.

  7. I don’t have an android anymore, or a device period that uses microSD cards, but this makes me SOOO happy!

Storage sizes need to continue to increase!

  8. Man, can we just talk about how much the prices of removable storage have fallen? I remember 15 years ago when 1GB was almost unheard of. I had a 256MB flash drive for taking small files around (you know, before Google Drive). Just crazy.

  9. I hope my old Cannon T3 can recognize it. That would be like one card for pictures for the rest of my life! Of course, every time I connect it to my computer it would have through all the previous pictures too and 1 TB night take a while.
