  1. For a first gen product – it looks awesome. I expected the price to be high.

Can’t wait to see where Samsung (and the wider market) takes the technology – I hope in the future we are all carrying foldable phones.

  2. Strikes me as more of a tablet that turns into a phone than the other way around.

Excited for the future of foldable phones with this though. Way more polished than I expected from one of the very first mainstream devices. Understandable why it costs so much. Seeing it in person is the next step, because that fold looks absolutely seamless

  3. Just a few years ago, if a manufacturer announced this it could have passed as an April Fool’s joke.

That said, still quite a bit too rich for my blood and plus early adopter woes will probably be a thing.

  4. This actually looks so cool, this is basically a tablet and phone at the same time. But did they seriously have to have a notch in that huge screen? Couldn’t they have put the selfie cam in that giant bezel on the front and make the inside a huge bezelless display?

  5. I was pretty set on getting one, but for that price I will most definitely have to wait. Most definitely cannot warrant spending $2k+ (I’m not in the US) on a phone

  6. I think a lot of the reaction comments here are missing the point, generally wanting more out of the « outside » screen.

    Guys, that’s not the point.

The form factor here seems really nice for placing calls and glancing at notifications, or taking a quick photo while folded. Need to consume content or complete work in some apps? Open the big beautiful display inside!

Better get insurance for a $2k device though, I don’t see a case working very well here.

  7. Looks pretty awesom even though I will never get it due to the price, and about the price… If you are laughing or scoffing at the price, the phone is not for you. It seems that people do not understand how things work when you have cutting edge tech brought to market. The Galaxy Fold is a polished first gen luxury niche product at this point. It’s not a mass market product at all.

Samsung is basically testing the waters with folding phones and making it worthwhile to do so. Like what do you expect?

In a few generations the price will come down and the tech will improve if the demand is there.

  8. I…. I actually like this. I won’t be able to afford it, but it’s seriously not terrible at all I think. I also can’t stop thinking about how often you can fold the phone till it breaks. Foldable display. What a fucking time we live in.

  9. I though it would be $1499, anyway I wouldn’t buy it even for $1499.

I’m ‘second generation guy’, I’ll wait for the next one and buy that.
