  1. If they can get on the dual front facing speaker train too, I would be so happy. Heck, I don’t even mind if they did the screen vibration loudspeaker stuff, as long as it’s in the front and balanced.

  2. If they can put the camera under the display then please move it lower. I hate video chatting with people specifically because I can’t look them in the eyes. It’s two people seemingly looking down and away from each other because they’re trying to look each other in the eye naturally even though the camera is too high up for that.

  3. I feel like the tech will be ready around 2022 or after. However, by that time most smartphones, or flagships at least, will have 94% or 95% screen-to-body ratio so it won’t make as big of an impact as we might think.

I’m just interested on how they’ll be able to keep or improve the brightness and color accuracy of transparent OLED screens. I saw a video on LTT about a transparent OLED display and I thought it looked good for something that is still in early development stages.

  4. Am I the only one who wants a few mm around the edge of the screen so I can hold the phone without touching the screen accidentally?

    No one?

I’ll just show myself out, then.

  5. As a recent S10+ buyer I’m SO happy they said it was about 2 years out. This might be Samsung’s design for the next 2 Galaxy cycles. The only thing I’m sure I’ll want on the S11 is the 120Hz or 90Hz screen they’re probably gonna include

  6. I think in general they’re pushing these design changes so far it’s affecting the usability and ergonomics. I don’t mean that against this phone/screen whatever it is specifically, but a trend to razzle dazzle us for flashy stuff that’s not necessary. Seems like they are slipping, dropping and breaking more frequently. Just a rant, I applaud their tech advances because that’s how we got to where we are. I’m clumsy, work in manufacturing and have a tendency to butt-dial/post frequently. Wish there was something innovative being done for that stuff

  7. I don’t get the obsession with edge to edge display. Like I never once thought to myself « man I really hate these bezels on my screen »

Sure, it looks kinda cool I guess but it doesn’t change anything functionally. I don’t see why this is such a big goal for manufacturers

  8. I feel crazy, but I liked the S9’s bezels. Thin, but enough room for cameras. Maybe add a front firing speaker to the bottom… End up with a cheaper to build design, that’s still functional and premium, and cheaper for the customer.

Buuuuuut, that’s not the direction the « masses » want apparently, so it is what it is.

  9. They should really work on the software experience. Like better apps for users and better UI experience. For much one UI had done right it’s also done things wrong. I think I’ll jump ship.

  10. This makes me as excited as when I hear the new MacBook is 1mm thinner. I don’t care. Just put the fucking camera, speakers, on top of the display, make my phone 1/4 taller. What’s the big whoop?
