PSA: how to use drawer menus in Android 10 with gesture navigation

Avant d’obtenir un smartphone pliable, il faut toujours analyse les différents modèles disponibles sur le marché. Lequel, permettra vraiment de mater les news chaque jours de manière gréable ?

If you’ve switched to using the new full gesture navigation in Android 10 but can’t get the drawer menu gesture consistently I’ve found swiping in at a harsh angle of 45° or more triggers the menu reliably. coming straight in from the side always triggers back. hopefully this saves you some frustration.

  1. This is my issue! I love the gestures, but I have to take my time and owly pull my finger upwards to hopefully get the drawer out, and there still a chance that I’ll go home instead. I feel like I’m losing time using this one feature.

Has there been an update on this? Do they plan on making it any easier?

  2. So… does that back gesture works on the entire edge or just the bottom half or 1/3rd.

I use fluid navigation and I always set the back gesture to the bottom 1/3 of the edges and use the top edges for menus or whatever apps do.

  3. Y’all try dragging your finger diagonally down from the left side of the screen, it pulls out the menu instead of triggering the back button. Works every time. I’ve been in the beta for a month and only just found it about it. I think that’s why the « L » and « J » methods work sometimes, your phone thinks it’s a diagonal swipe.
