  1. IF and only IF, it means to save quite some space to cram more battery in, then I’m all for it but, only as long as they implement wireless charging, waterproof the hell out of it so without popup cameras, carriers actually support e-sim, and the capacitive buttons are somewhat « marked » in the surface so I don’t hit em accidentally.

They could remove all and just leave USB C for those who want to use the phone while on charge.

    Edit: a letter

  2. First they came for the removable battery, and I did not speak out – because I never swapped my battery

Then they came for the memory card slot, and I did not speak out – because nobody should ever have more than 32GB anyway

Then they came came for the 3.5mm headphone jack, and I did not speak out – because I like my cheap $20 BT headphones that sound like crap anyway

Then they came for my USB port and there was no one left to speak for my USB port

Can’t wait for them to remove power button, volume buttons, sim card slot, ear speaker, microphone, fingerprint reader and eventually the screen.

    Because, why not?

You can always by them as additional and _reasonably priced_ accessories from our own brand.

  3. These articles are « trial balloons » by the mfg’s to gauge what else they can and can’t get away with. This is nothing more than the de-contenting of mobile phones with the intent of selling functionality back to you, preferably through a walled garden ecosystem of proprietary connectivity. The last time this came up for discussion people jumped down my throat for saying Vivo or whoever else has every intention of selling this phone, at least eventually.
