Photos de Google est un gâchis

Google Photos is a mess

  1. This is 100% user error. Google photos doesn’t use folders, it uses « albums » which are in name only. Organizing photos by folder is a waste of time, especially since most photos would want to go in more than one given folder.

  2. This is why Google wants pre-installed apps. OEMs building useless apps that « don’t work like my other phone » and people blame Google.

This is the world you want us to live in EU? I don’t want to be tech support to my idiot friends.

  3. I’d you spent several hours tapping 3 buttons in Google Photos your problem probably is user error.

Google Photos don’t do folders, dates being bad is user fault (or camera), if the file doesn’t have EXIF data the app uses file creation date.

  4. The problem is the albums don’t work the same way in Photos.

You have to start thinking of it as « labels ».

I let mine back up using Photos and I use the « Free up space » so I am always going to Photos to find the pictures. It is too hard to try to do both and organize them.

I have made albums for some things but I have a long way to go on organization. Would love tips if anyone has any.

  5. I understand and I know how important Google Photos is for you. Please give the below steps a try in a sequence to help resolve the issue:
Close the Google Photos app and re-launch it.
Sign out and sign back in to Google Photos with the same Google Account.
    Clear App data:
Open your device’s Settings app (not the Google Settings app).
    Touch Apps.
Select Google Photos in the list.
    Touch Clear data.
Update the Google Photos app on your Android phone:
    Visit the Google Play Store.
    Open Google Photos.
    Touch on Update.
    Also try (On a browser):
Sign out and sign back in to Google Photos ( with the same Google Account.
    Clear your cookies and cache.
    Try Incognito/private window.
    Disable extensions/add-ons/plug-ins.
Try a different browser to see if it is a browser related issue.
Let me know how it goes.

  6. Look man.

Copy to pc and work on pc .

Then create albums on google photos on pc
And drag drop your photos from pc to that album folder. From chrome browser

Do this manual task once a month

  7. I have a similar problem with google drive where I used es file explorer to link to a recipe folder I keep in my google drive. whenever I open one of the documents on my nexus 7, it seems to create a duplicate of it so no my drive folder is an absolute mess with numerous versions of the same documents all over the place

  8. If you are OKAY with consumed space.

    Sync to google drive.
    See folders in google drive

Toggle a setting so that google drive stuff shows up in google photos

Note stuff synced to google drive will count as used space . Better to have a paid option.

  9. > So I own an S8. I purchased a Lenovo Tablet last month and discovered a whole mess of problems with not syncing my photos, music, anything to my Google Cloud or S8. For photos, I looked online and discovered that my stock Gallery app didn’t sync my photos nor was it even the default Google app (Google Photos, silly me!)

Gallery is Samsung’s default app not Google’s.

    > So after downloading GP and spending an hr creating folders on my Tablet (since the folders on my Gallery app didn’t sync to GP) I then discovered that the folders I created in GP on my Tablet didn’t sync to my S8. The photos all back up but the folders don’t.

This maybe a syncing error on your tablet. I would double check those settings, and if that doesn’t work, maybe clear the app data.

    > Now I begin creating new folders for my S8, again, to discover that GP has the dates messed up on my photos. Photos of my son at 1 yr old and 3 yr old now have the same creation dates so I have no way to fix their order whereas Gallery had them listed correctly. So now I have no way to truly categorize my photos my date.

If you have date problems like that. It usually means that photos lost their exif data during some kind task, likely during editing or cropping that created a second version. So it defaults to the day that specific version of the file was created.

    > I wish Gallery had the option to sync photos like GP supposedly does because it is far superior and cleaner to GP. Now my photos are all out of order, even ones I just downloaded are out of order, and it’s going to take me hours to fix because there’s no easy way to do anything with an Android. I literally spent several hours when I first got my new Tablet looking up how to sync from S8 to my Tablet and got the same results which did nothing for me. Add in the fact that Google Cloud didn’t work with any of my supposed stock Google apps and this makes it so much fun.

Probably should have bought a Samsung tablet. But since that’s already a sunk cost, albums are sorted from newer to older, but as with most database systems, that search bar is your friend.

  10. I don’t understand how you stuffed it up, but this is user error.

When you open google photoes for the first time it scans your device looking for folders on your device to sync to google. It will then ask if you want to sync that folder, once you say yes it will do it, that simple.

For me personally I started using google photos with my note 3, I then upgraded to a 6p, then a note 8, and now on an S10+.

Each time I’ve changed phones, all I’ve done was copy the original photos and put that onto a backup drive at home, but I just use google photos to view them. (I’m a stickler for keeping the original file as GP does compress photos and videos)

  11. I’ve been using Google Photos for years and it keeps getting better and better. It is my favorite app that Google makes and it works wonders when organizing and sharing pics of my 3 year old. Never had any problems with any of the issues you are stating.
