  1. I can only talk Europe pricing and it’s positioning compared to other phones.

Last year, Samsung portfolio was bad. I think from top to bottom except the Note 9 were all bad value. Even the Exynos 9810 was terribly bad.

This year they did a dramatic change.

Lower end phones (up till the A50) use plastic backs. They save money and put up much better SoC’s than last year. No Samsung phone in Europe from 2019, doesn’t use big cores. The Lowest end from the A series also has big cores.

The A40 is a solid 250€ phone. 4GB/64 with the size of the S10E.

    The A50 (4/128) and A70 (6/128) are also well positioned. (300 and 400€)

Samsung still needs to release a 150€ phone here. The A10 and A20 have yet to release here.

Compared to Xiaomi and Huawei pricing, it’s seriously competitive. While Xiaomi/Huawei phones In the 200€ can have a bit better CPU (Exynos 7904 Vs Kirin 710 and SD660), GPU wise it’s near parity and Samsung phones bring a much better screen and 2nd cameras for super wide shots (other OEMs use depth only).

The A80 is a bit overpriced. I would buy it if it had Samsung on Dex but without it, I see no reason for it to be 600+

  2. Nice idea but its nothing special. The Oppo N1 had that years ago. The disgusting part is making a phone without a headphone jack, no sd card, no wireless charging, no waterproofing and then asking for Apple prices. I mean 649€ for removing features? Hard pass. I would rather buy the OnePlus 6T.
