  1. Given that Google laptops and tablets are getting Chrome OS now instead of Android, and that everyone seems to be sure that both Chrome and Android are getting replaced by Fuchsia… why bother building a desktop mode for Android?

  2. Talk about full circle.

    3.x tablets, anyone?

Back then Android was poised to go beyond phones, but then ChromeOS happened.

  3. but since none of the Pixel smartphones support display out over HDMI you can’t actually use the desktop interface in any meaningful way.

// Too bad we are limited by the hardware (or lack of)

  4. I have no idea how any of this works, but if they could somehow get my apps on Android TV to work properly with a keyboard and mouse, that would be awesome. It’s crazy the amount of hacky workarounds I need to do to get certain apps to work with my Nvidia Shield.

  5. Google: We’re consolidating all three of the nav buttons into a new guestures system

Also Google: here’s that same guestures system stretched out to the size of a TV

Good Lord I shudder to think of what a tablet based on AOSP Q would look like.
