The Galaxy s10 can be held up by a magnetic mount.

  1. Almost any phone with wireless charging will have some level of connection with the little magnetic mounts.

The magnets are attaching to the ferrite later used to isolate the copper Litz wire from spewing interference into the device.

The only device I’ve seen that doesn’t have some even marginal magnetic attachment is the iPhone. I haven’t looked into why that would be the case.

  2. The S8 has magnetic coils too. Been mounting it without a plate for almost 2 years now since I found out I didn’t need to use one. Good to hear that’s still the case for the S10!

  3. Fun fact: the Nexus 5 could do this too. The S10e is the modern day equivalent of the Galaxy S5 (a phone of the Nexus 5 generation), minus a few features.

It’s crazy how far forward and yet backward we have come.

  4. Wow that’s pretty cool. Been seeing a lot of comments on here that it’s the same case for the 8 and 9. Can I ask what brands you guys are using? I’m using a LED View Cover on my S10+ so I wanna check if it works even with this kind of case on.

  5. Wait what? I’ve been days thinking about a way to use my car mount without any case. I’m wondering if this will work with my Aukey magnet and my Note 9.

  6. The coils are copper and are non magnetic so you aren’t holding the phone by the coils if it makes sense.

There has to be a ferromagnetic component somewhere that is being magneticaly attracted somewhere and I don’t know if that’s safe / recommended.

  7. Sorry if this question is noonish*, but does putting a magnet against the phone cause any damage? Naturally a strong magnet will, just wonder what it’d take to cause an impact

    *Noobish

  8. With 3 of my 4 cases, I can use my s8 on a magnetic mount without the metal piece.

These phones have metal backs below the glass. The charging coil is copper/not magnetic, so it’s prob not that thats making it stick

  9. I tried to stick my Note 9 with my Aukey mount but it’s just barely strong enough to hold the phone in place. I’d like to try a stronger mount. Any suggestions? Which model are you using?

  10. Our s10’s (within cases) do not stick without the additional metal sheet. Maybe your magnetic mount is stronger than ours.
Now looking for mounts that are almost as easy as the magnetic.
