  1. Dude Google needs to get better at promoting this app. I’ve only been able to use it ONCE because none of my iPhone friends want it and my Android friends barely know it exists *even if it came preinstalled on their phone*. Google is one of the biggest companies in the world and they still have no idea how to market a product that isn’t search, Gmail, Docs or YouTube.

  2. Is it just me, or am I just not getting any of these updates?
Back during valentines day, I remember some mention that they’re adding those cheesy ass « filters » or whatever. Never seen em, and they’re once again mentioned in this article. Not that I frankly care about that, but… my duo has looked the exact same since, iuno, late 2018? Even tried to install the latest version on apkmirror and all that too…

  3. That proves that they will drop it in 6 months.

Google policy is they require a certain number of adopters before they abandon something. They’re just pumping their numbers so they can dump it.

  4. It’s weird how nobody mentions one big shortcoming of Duo: you cannot use it without a phone number!
Hangouts allows to login with just an email, Skype too and even FaceTime. But not Duo.

  5. And they put in interpolation of the image in the black bars if there is a difference in aspect ratio. Very similar to how YouTube does with vertical videos.

I don’t like this at all, looks weird and for sure a hit in battery life on an already heavy app. OLED savings If the background was just black..
