  1. It would be more consistent if the Play Store would follow the icon shapes set in the system via developer options. Rounded Rectangle, Square, Squircle and Teardrop. Given that the notification shade toggles already follow those shapes.

  2. To people who think that Google is not consistent because Pixel apps are circles and Play Store apps are rounded squares:

    The Play Store is the Android store and not the Pixel store. Other phones like Galaxy don’t have circled icons.

  3. Google is such a hive of dumb product decisions these days. Their Android APIs are an absolute mess, their internal team directions are a disaster – but here they are messing with icons being round or square.

    I feel so bad for any app developer trying to do long term support who has to deal with this year after year.

    Edit: actually the new plan seems like a logical and good idea, but why wasn’t it like this in the first place?

  4. For anyone who didn’t read the article or the one a month ago about the same thing, this is only for the Google Play listing, app launcher icons aren’t changing.
